Book #1

What I Liked About This Book:

If I could give this book more than 5 stars, I would. Jean Grainger’s writing and storytelling is growing with each new series. I never thought I would like a character as much as I like Jean’s main character Conor O’Shea from her first series: “The Tour”. And then came Mags Monroe.

Mags Monroe is the local police sergeant in a small town in Ireland. Part of the community includes Travelers. Mags is the go between of the community and the Travelers. Mags is a strong, empathetic and independent lead character. She is married and has two children. Throughout the story we see Mags working through internal conflicts of being a working mom and wife; and being a police officer and community policing.

There is also a beautiful generational aspect to this story. I hope it tugs at your heartstrings as much as it did mine.

Why You Should Read This Book

If you enjoy women’s detective fiction, with a strong female lead character and you are open to reading a book with characters who live a lifestyle different from yours, then I highly recommend you read this book.

Trigger Warning: this book contains scenes of abduction, assault, trauma, PTSD, death, and the traveller version of a memorial service. If these topics are upsetting for you, I would recommend reading with caution.

The Mags Monroe is available exclusively on Amazon.

Book #2, “Growing Wild in the Shade”, is available for pre-order and will release in July 2022.
