Book #1 in the Carly Moore Series
5 STARS – *****

First off I need to let you know that I LOVE Denise’s Rose series. I am a diehard Rose fan. When Carly was first introduced in the Rose Investigation series, I was hesitant but I was open to seeing the character develop. I knew Denise had Carly in the books for a reason. When reading “A Cry in the Dark” I laughed, I cried, I wanted to yell at some of the *ahem* male characters *ahem*.
In my opinion Denise always writes well thought out and developed novels. Thats one aspect of her writing that I appreciate. She put her heart and soul into this book and it shows. I love Carly’s character development. The girl has some balls. She has backbone. She is not afraid to say no. She is aware of some of her difficulties, yet also is not afraid to let others help her, which says a lot given her history and what brought her to Drum in the first place.
Trouble seems to just follow Carly wherever she goes. She means well and her intentions are good, but she is stubborn and ferocious like a bull dog when it comes to protecting others and seeking justice.
I have enjoyed the friendships that have developed between Carly and some of the citizens of Drum. This book was a page turner and hard for me to put down. The ending was brilliant! I do not think it could have ended any better.
My only complaint … is having to wait until June for book #3.
“A Cry in the Dark” is available on Amazon.
